Jan 11, 2016 | Legal Developments and News

Similar to the California Department of Education’s recent bid threshold increase for school districts, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office has announced that the bid threshold for community college districts will be increased to $87,800 for certain contracts as defined in Public Contract Code section 20651(a), effective January 1, 2016.

In 2015, community college districts were required to competitively bid and award contracts involving an expenditure of more than $86,000 for any of the following:

  1. The purchase of equipment, materials, or supplies to be furnished, sold or leased to the district;
  2. Services that are non-construction; and
  3. Repairs, including maintenance (as defined in Public Contract Code section 20656 for community college districts), that are not public projects (as defined in Public Contract Code section 22002(c)).
