Mid-sized education law firm with statewide practice representing school and community college districts seeks a litigation paralegal to support multiple attorneys. If you are interested in being part of a team that supports the education of students in California, we encourage you to apply.
Candidates will be considered for the following DWK offices: Long Beach, San Diego, San Francisco, East Bay or Sacramento
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Prepare motions, pleadings, subpoenas, and discovery-related materials
- Manage, upload, and retrieve information from administrative and trial courts
- Conduct cite-checking and review motions and pleadings for accuracy
- Manage and organize large volumes of documents including hard copy and electronic files
- Utilize various software systems for document tracking and review
- Perform legal research and fact gathering, applying knowledge of Westlaw and other resources
- Consolidate analysis into easy-to-understand documents and presentations
- Prepare and process court and administrative filings
- Stay current with court dockets and calendared litigation, and other administrative agency hearing dates
- Provide recommendations to attorneys and staff on complex procedural issues
Qualifications include:
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and organized with strong knowledge of litigation procedures
- Able to work under pressure while managing multiple deadlines/priorities with excellent follow through
- Demonstrated experience maintaining a high-quality work product within required time constraints
- Ability to track complex information accurately and succinctly
- Accuracy, speed, and professionalism a must
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated understanding of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint) and experience working with a document management system
- Experience using eDiscovery software for document review and production
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Three years prior experience as a litigation paralegal
- Experience in education law setting strongly preferred
- Flexibility with work schedule to meet position needs
- Ability to work overtime, as needed
- Meets the California Business and Professions Code Section 6450 requirement
- Minimum billable hours expectation
Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
The anticipated hourly rate range the Firm reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Paralegal is $37.30 – $55.96. The final hourly rate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience in the job, type and years of experience in the industry, education, and other factors.
