Billing Coordinator (Hybrid)

Mid-sized education law firm with statewide practice representing school and community college districts seeks a billing coordinator for our East Bay Office.  If you are interested in being part of a team that supports the education of students in California, we encourage you to apply.  The ideal candidate will possess at least three years of billing experience.

Candidates will be considered for the following DWK office: East Bay Office

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that client receipts are accurately posted to client accounts on a timely basis
  • Open new matters and completes new matter set-up, corresponding documentation and system updates
  • For assigned clients, responsible for the Billing Information Memo (BIMS) process
  • Responsible for reviewing attorney time entries and ensuring their accuracy
  • At times, supports full cycle billing activities, using billing (LMS) software to edit, prepare, post invoices and send invoices to clients
  • Research and reconcile client accounts, payments, unapplied cash, etc., as necessary
  • Position requires routine communication with firm attorneys, client contacts and other personnel, both inside and outside the firm
  • Respond to information requests from attorneys, clients and administrative staff related to WIP, A/R, billing reconciliations, trust balances, and applications of cash and audit letters
  • Maintain compliance with firm billing policies and client billing guidelines, including approved alternative billing arrangements
  • Prepare ad hoc billing related reports, as requested
  • Complete special projects as assigned

  • Ability to effectively handle shifting priorities and adapt to changing demands
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed
  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, project management or related field preferred
  • A minimum of three years legal billing experience using a billing software system; experience with LMS preferred
  • Strong computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • E-billing experience a plus
  • Law firm billing experience preferred

The anticipated hourly rate range the Firm reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Billing Coordinator is $29.80 – $42.00.  The final hourly rate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience in the job, type and years of experience in the industry, education, and other factors.
