Impasse, Strikes, Bargaining Proposals: Emerging Trends In Labor Relations

Thursday, January 18th
10:15-11:45am
Room: Sorrento

During the last several years, there has been an increase in union bargaining proposals that go beyond compensation and benefit proposals to include “common good” proposals and other non-mandatory subjects of bargaining. Protracted negotiations have resulted in concerted activities, including unfair practice strikes and sympathy strikes prior to the legally required completion of the negotiation process and impasse procedure.  In this session, DWK attorneys and School Services will share their experiences with dealing with these emerging labor trends, offer their perspectives on future trends, and discuss strategies and best practices on how to navigate through these matters.

PRESENTERS:
Ellen Wu, Shareholder Attorney, Dannis Woliver Kelley
Greg Dannis, Shareholder Attorney, Dannis Woliver Kelley
John Gray, President and CEO, School Services of California
