Leilani Battiste
Leilani Battiste is Of Counsel in the San Francisco office and a member of the Labor, Employment and Personnel practice group. She has experience representing public entities, K-12 school districts, and community college districts.
Prior to joining the firm, Leilani worked for many years at City College of San Francisco, where she first worked as outside counsel, followed by Deputy General Counsel, in addition to serving as Interim General Counsel. She has most recently been with the County of Marin, Office of the County Counsel where she served as Deputy County Counsel.
Leilani has experience appearing before and has worked with or is currently working with state and federal agencies such as the Public Employee Relations Board, Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, California Community Colleges Office of the State Chancellor, the California Department of Industrial Relations Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, and the Office of Administrative Hearings. She also represents school districts and community college districts in mediation and disciplinary hearings. Leilani has extensive experience as an investigator, and has experience/conducted trainings in the areas of sexual harassment/sexual assault prevention, discrimination in employment and education, student record and medical record privacy, equal employment opportunity in hiring, disability and family care, as well as medical leave laws.
