Jan 5, 2021 | Publications

Various agencies have issued guidance on conducting special education evaluations during the COVID-19 pandemic, but how does this information fit together and impact your work with students right now? In the midst of ever-changing local health orders, how can you leverage your evaluation knowledge base to confront changing student needs and distance learning challenges? We invite you to a webinar on assessing educational needs to help you confidently respond to the new evaluation requests, backlog of reevaluations, and requests for compensatory education you’re managing as we near Winter Break.

Join us as we explore the parameters for conducting legally defensible evaluations during the COVID-19 pandemic, including how distance learning may impact child find, best practices for eligibility determination and reevaluation, and how to avoid over-identification for special education when all students are adjusting to a new learning environment. DWK’s Meagan Kinsey will examine current guidance, analyze case studies, and discuss common concerns and questions to ensure you have the tools to make assessment decisions in the best interest of your students and district.
