Tami Essis Culkar is Special Counsel in the firm’s San Francisco office and practices in the Labor, Employment, and Personnel (LEAP) group. For more than ten years, she has represented public school district clients in labor and personnel matters including hiring, discipline, negotiations and contract administration. She regularly handles PERB hearings and arbitrations.
Tami has considerable experience in collective bargaining. She negotiates collective bargaining agreements on behalf of school districts using both traditional and interest-based approaches. As a trusted member of the negotiations team, Tami works to ensure the district’s negotiation objectives align with its educational mission and LCAP. She is also experienced in coping with employee concerted activities and has advised districts through mediation and fact-finding.
Tami has developed and presented anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, ADA/interactive process, Brown Act/Board Governance training courses for numerous clients.
Prior to joining Dannis Woliver Kelley, she represented public and private sector employers in connection with their labor relations, and personnel matters including representing employers in discrimination and wrongful termination litigation.
