Immediately after law school, Nelly pursued the Master of Industrial and Labor Relations degree at the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations. During her time at ILR, she served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate labor and employment law course and gained further appreciation for the educational process.

Prior to law school, Nelly worked in superior court, an insurance broker, and as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in a small town outside of Madrid, Spain. She credits the latter experience with instilling a love for serving students and making an enriched educational experience accessible to as many students as possible.
