Amy R. Levine
Amy R. Levine is a Shareholder in the San Francisco and East Bay offices, former chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, and currently serves on the Litigation Committee. She is also a member of the firm’s Students and Special Education Practice Group. Amy has nearly 20 years of experience representing private schools, school districts and other public entities in employment, labor, student and special education matters, and nearly 30 years of litigation experience.
Prior to her work with public entities, Amy represented individuals and organizations in civil rights, employment and education discrimination litigation, and also represented indigents in employment, education, housing, family law, and consumer matters. In her career, she has handled numerous cases in the federal and state courts, before arbitrators, and in administrative agencies. Her work has included representation of clients in class actions, including school districts in desegregation cases. Her current emphasis is on students and special education, litigation and appeals, and she has many published decisions to her credit in these areas and is frequently quoted in LRP’s special education publications. Amy also acts as an investigator for clients and a Title IX decision-maker. She has training in alternative dispute resolution, and has served as a member of the mediation and early neutral evaluation panels for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. She has also served a judge pro tem for the San Francisco Superior Court.
