And Our Winners Are...

October 25, 2012

Two bears, a chalkboard filled with California's natural beauty, a book giving rise to everything, and a busload of happy students on their way to school! We were truly delighted and amazed by more than 300 images we received from K-12 students throughout California to our call for art on California's Schools.

We've created display walls in each of our offices showing the many great pieces received, and we will soon be posting a slideshow for you to see them too! We originally planned on selecting three winning images, but today we're very happy to announce five winners of our contest. With their winning images, they are:

  • Paige Allen - Roosevelt Middle School, Vista Unified School District

Paige Allen

  • Enikoe Bihari - Granada High School, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District

  • Jodi Bryant - Junction Avenue K-8 School, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District

  • Daniel Diaz - Norte Vista High School, Alvord Unified School District

  • Samuel Gonzalez - Leuzinger High School, Centinela Valley Union High School District

Samuel Gonzalez

Each of the winning students will receive a $75 award, and DWK will donate $200 in art supplies to a classroom of each student. We are designing a canvas bag with the winning images to distribute to district board and staff members at education conferences and other events later this school year.

Again, please watch for a slideshow coming soon to show many of the great images students made for California's Schools. We are all honored to see what the creative hands of the future can do. Congratulations to all participating students and schools, and we thank you all very much for being creative for California's Schools!
