Experience counts in local election. Trustee Gregory Dannis is Re-Elected to the Hillsborough School Board.

Hillsborough, CA – November 8, 2011 – Thanks to a groundswell of support, incumbent Gregory J. Dannis was re-elected to serve a second term on the Hillsborough School District Board of Trustees. In a race that included three newcomers and one incumbent, Greg Dannis and Margi Power each received over 35 percent of the vote.

Excited to serve another four-year term, Dannis remarked, “Speaking for myself and the other trustees, I welcome Margi to the Hillsborough School Board. Now that the election is behind us, we have much to accomplish. On behalf of our kids, our parents and our community, there are standards of excellence we all want to uphold.”

Prior to serving as President of the Board, Greg served as Vice President. He also serves on the Board Policy Committee and as Chief Spokesperson for the District, where he recently concluded labor agreements with both unions that are likely to result in savings. Greg also serves as a member of the San Mateo County Committee on District Organization.

As a 19-year resident and parent of three graduates of Hillsborough schools (the latest in 2011), Greg Dannis is President of the state’s leading public education law firm, Dannis Woliver Kelley.

Greg has devoted his entire 31-year career to public schools throughout California. Although he represents some of the largest districts in the state, many Greg serves are small, basic aid districts like Hillsborough. He advises school districts and boards on all aspects of running a school district: finance, construction, personnel, bonds, business, litigation and labor relations.

His four years on the Board have been marked by positive change and success for the District. During his tenure, the District hired a new superintendent and three new principals. The District completed a $66.8 million school renovation, where the projects were brought in early and under budget.

Past President and current Hillsborough School Board Trustee Mary Ellen Benninger commented, “People in Hillsborough realize how lucky we are to have Greg serving on our School Board.  His experience is invaluable to the District with so much change underway both locally and statewide.”
Speaking of his role on the school board, Greg stated, “I know success is impossible without a committed team. No child, parent, teacher, administrator or school board succeeds alone. I will continue to dedicate with passion my time, energy, experience, and expertise to maintain our District’s excellence. Our community deserves no less.
